Information on Filing a Claim The amount claimed (including the value of property) must be $10,000 or less. You must make a bona fide (good faith) effort to collect your claim from the defendant before you file. Your claim form must include a statement that you tried to resolve the issue before you filed a claim.
Once you receive your notice that the judgment was entered, you must send the defendant a written demand for payment. This letter must be sent by certified mail, return receipt requested. The Oregon Judicial Department does not provide forms for demand letters.
The original claim form including all copies must be filed with the Small Claims Department. At the time of filing, you must pay: $37.00. No personal checks accepted. Make cashiers check or money order payable to LINN COUNTY JUSTICE COURT.
