What qualifies as first class mail?

First-class mail is used for postcards, letters, large envelopes, and small packages. First-class mail must weigh 13 ounces or less. Pieces over 13 ounces can be sent as Priority Mail. USPS first-class delivery is given priority over standard mail, and local mail will typically be delivered in 2-3 days.

What is considered flat mail?

A Large Envelope is a rectangular mailpiece no thicker than 3/4 inch. They are commonly referred to as Flats. Flats must be: Flexible. Have four square corners (or finished corners not exceeding a radius of 0.125 (1/8) inch.

Can I use a flat rate envelope for first class mail?

USPS Flat Rate packaging CANNOT be used with standard Priority Mail services, First Class Mail, Media Mail, or with other carriers. They are only allowed for their designated Priority Mail Flat Rate service.
