Are you guaranteed an MOS in the Army?

Even Army contracts that guarantee you a specific MOS arent absolute guarantees. If you cant get the job through no fault of your own the Army decided to downsize that MOS or you couldnt get clearance youll be given the option to pick another MOS or take a discharge.

Are you guaranteed a job in the military?

There are no job guarantees in the military. In fact, most recruiters were assigned to recruit- ing jobs against their will. The kind of job you get depends mostly on what jobs the military needs to fill. Most military jobs are in areas that account for only a small percentage of civilian jobs.

What is the enlistment contract?

My enlistment/reenlistment agreement is more than an employment agreement. It effects a change in status from civilian to military member of the Armed Forces. As a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, I will be: (1) Required to obey all lawful orders and perform all assigned duties.

Does the military guarantee your MOS?

The only time we DO GUARANTEE a specific MOS is if you go RESERVES. Those individuals DO get the full MOS (0627, etc) from the beginning, unlike active duty who will only get the 06XX designator.

What determines your MOS?

During the enlistment process, incoming soldiers are required to take and pass the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), in order to qualify for enlistment into the military. This aptitude test will also help to determine what MOSs an incoming enlisted service member would best qualify and be suited for.
