The Basic Academy consists of the following 5 classroom courses, comprising 3 weeks (15 days, 120 hours) of learning. Attendance at each course is mandatory.
Center for Domestic Preparedness All CDP courses are accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training for continuing education units, and many are also accredited by national healthcare and law enforcement organizations.
Credits earned through taking FEMA courses are one form of alternative credit that may be accepted by universities as you are pursuing an associates or bachelors degree. Earning college credit through alternative means such as this can be a great way of reducing the cost of earning your college diploma.
Complete the 5 sections of the CCRF by providing FCC your contact information, selecting the courses you wish to convert, requesting FEMAs EMI and/or CDP websites send your FEMA transcripts to FCC for evaluation, and making your payment of $90 per credit.
Credits are awarded about 2-3 weeks after sending in the request form. Students may also be able to receive credit for independent study classes taken through FEMAs Emergency Management Institute. Independent study course completion is evaluated through Frederick Community College.
