How much does the New York insurance license cost? In New York, the licensing fee for each major line of insurance (such as Life and Health, Property and Casualty) is $80 for a full license period of more than one year. The fee for each attempt of the exams is $33.
An entity must have at least one sublicensee who is an officer, director, partner, member or manager and who meets all qualifications required for the license for which it is applying. All entities applying for an insurance license must apply online via the Departments electronic licensing application.
Complete prelicensing education requirements. Pass the applicable New York State examination within 2 years of applying for the license. (Allow 1 to 3 business days after passing the exam before applying for the license.) Submit a completed license application to the Department within two years of passing the exam.
