Ofcom has confirmed its proposed changes to Royal Mails Universal Service Obligation including a reduced Second Class service, a relaxation of delivery targets, and a revamped bulk mail access service. Royal Mail parent group International Distribution Services called for major reform of the USO back in May 2023.
Second Class delivery changes To ensure the universal service remains sustainable and delivers what people need, we are proposing to allow Royal Mail to deliver Second Class letters on alternate weekdays still within three working days of collection but not on Saturdays.
We are proposing two sets of changes to Royal Mails delivery targets: Small changes to the primary targets for First Class mail from 93% to 90% delivered next-day, and for Second Class mail from 98.5% to 95% delivered within three days.
Our age verification process lets us validate proof of your age; its a service used to send items that can only be delivered to a recipient who is aged 18 and over. When we deliver age-restricted items, we need to make sure that the person receiving the items is 18 and over.
The United States Postal Service (USPS), also known as the Post Office, U.S. Mail, or simply the Postal Service, is an independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federal government responsible for providing postal service in the United States, its insular areas and associated states.
