The Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (WPA), General Law Ch. 131 Sec. 40, prohibits any filling, excavation or other alterations of land surface, water levels, or vegetation in wetland resource areas, regardless of ownership, without a permit from the local Conservation Commission.
If you are appealing a lower courts decision in a civil case, you must pay a fee to the Appeals Court within 14 days of receiving the notice from the lower court clerk in order to have your case entered into the Appeals Courts docket. The docket fee is $300 per appealing party.
An appeal is initiated by filing in the lower court a notice of appeal, within 30 days following the order or judgment appealed from. If the Commonwealth or any office or agency thereof is a party, however, the appeal time is extended to 60 days.
