The current KLETC basic training program is 14-weeks, 560-hours in length.
For Area Law Enforcement Agencies Only : Tuition Cost is $5,000 per recruit, plus $315 for uniforms and equipment. Ammunition must be supplied for each recruit enrolled: 5,000 rounds of handgun ammunition of the caliber used by your agency, with lead free primers.
All non-certified officers will attend the basic academy at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center near Hutchinson, Kansas for fourteen (14) weeks (560 hours). There, the cadets learn countless lessons and certifications that they are able to apply to the streets of Kansas when they graduate.
To become certified as a police officer, a Police Officer Trainee must undergo 560 hours of basic training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson, Kansas. Following graduation, they must complete 240 hours of in-house training before moving on to patrol.
