Peace Corps Response sends experienced professionals to undertake short-term, high-impact service assignments in communities around the world. Peace Corps Response Volunteers are expected to possess the technical skills needed to fulfill their assigned role with minimal training.
As of the beginning of February 2023, Volunteers have now returned for training and service in 47 countries around the globe including the new program launched in Viet Nam. More than 900 Volunteers are currently serving. Invitations are out for at least eight more countries.
Since the Peace Corps began in 1961, more than 235,000 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in 141 countries. Of these dedicated men and women, 309 have sacrificed not only their energies and time, but also their lives while pursuing the Peace Corps mission.
Summary: In FY 2019, 1,376 of the 10,811 Volunteers who served during the year (12.7 percent) did not complete their full service. Of these 10,811 Volunteers, 7.3 percent resigned. This result is similar to the result in FY 2018 (6.9 percent).
