The Shirlee J. and Taylor Gandy First Generation Scholarship is designed to provide support to rising UT Arlington sophomores on the basis of merit and financial need. Preference will be given to first-generation students who have achieved a minimum UTA GPA of 3.0 during the freshman year.

Students awarded the Distinguished Freshman Award will receive $2,000 for their first fall and spring semesters at UTA.
