SQL database or relational database is a collection of highly structured tables, wherein each row reflects a data entity, and every column defines a specific information field. Relational databases are built using the structured query language (SQL) to create, store, update, and retrieve data.
The dbo schema is the default schema of every database. By default, users created with the CREATE USER Transact-SQL command have dbo as their default schema. The dbo schema is owned by the dbo user account. Users who are assigned the dbo as default schema dont inherit the permissions of the dbo user account.
You can get a list of the schemas using an SSMS or T-SQL query. To do this in SSMS, you would connect to the SQL instance, expand the SQL database and view the schemas under the security folder. Alternatively, you could use the sys. schemas to get a list of database schemas and their respective owners.
Execute the query SELECT DISTINCT owner FROM allobjects to get a list of all schemas in the database. Select the specific schema youre interested in. Next, execute SELECT * FROM alltables WHERE owner = to get a list of tables within the chosen schema. Lastly, use the retrieved table info for your needs.
The below SQL query will help us to know the Schema name for tables and even for columns as well. select SCHEMANAME(); SELECT * FROM INFORMATIONSCHEMA. TABLES; SELECT * FROM INFORMATIONSCHEMA.
