In accordance with the Open Public Records Act, NJDEP makes available its public records through formal requests to the Departments Office of Record Access. Requests may be submitted in writing by submitting a paper records request form or by completing the online form below.
A request form, which includes the requesters name, address and telephone number and the record sought, must be completed and submitted to the Municipal Clerk as the Custodian of Public Records. The Clerk has (7) seven business days to fulfill your records request.
CG: Yes, OPRA is not limited to New Jersey residents anyone can file requests. Theres no requirement that you have a particular interest or reason for requesting the records.
You can make a public records request in person, by phone, fax, e-mail, or regular mail. Typical costs include $0.15 per page for requests in excess of 50 pages, and a service charge based on staff labor costs necessary to research, locate, and complete any redactions.
Under Open Public Records Act ( OPRA ), the custodian of government records must comply with the request as soon as possible, but no later than seven business days after the request is received.
