A re-evaluation may occur no more than once a year but must be conducted at least every three years for special education students with certain exceptions. A re-evaluation must be conducted whenever the students parents, teacher or district staff request one.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires schools to reevaluate kids with IEPs at least once every three years. The purpose of the triennial reevaluation is to see if a students needs have changed. Its also to see if they still qualify for special education services.
A Section 504 reevaluation would consist of a review of the Section 504 plan and current data on performance, including classroom grades and assessment information. Reevaluation under Section 504 does not require a comprehensive evaluation and the Section 504 team determines if additional information is required.
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as well as California law, a reevaluation of a student and their IEP is necessary every three years.
When an individual has an IEP, the federal law requires IEP teams to re-evaluate the student at least every three years. An individuals re-evaluation due date can be found on the first page of the current IEP.
