The Food and Beverage Tax is 4% of the total cost of food and beverages sold by restaurants, caterers, or other designated establishments defined as a restaurant in the Code of Virginia 35.1-1. In addition to Virginia Sales Tax, the City of Manassas charges a 4% Meals Tax on prepared food for immediate consumption. The tax must be collected from the customer and remitted by the vendor on or before the 20th of the following month to the Commissioner of Revenue.
The Food and Beverage (Meals) Tax rate is 4.0% of a taxable meal. Virginia Sales and Use Tax is 6%. The total tax would be 10%. Sellers Commission is a portion of the tax collected that is kept by the seller to offset the cost of administering the tax.
The Virginia sales tax rate is currently 4.3%.
