STEM majors, degrees, or disciplines that are typically eligible for Noyce cost of attendance support are: biological sciences (CIP code 26), computer sciences (CIP code 11), engineering (CIP code 14), mathematics and statistics (CIP code 27), physical sciences (CIP code 40), or fields related to these disciplines (
NOTE: Individuals who are eligible for Noyce scholarship/stipend support must earn or have a baccalaureate degree in a STEM discipline and must be positioned to earn teaching certification/licensure in mathematics or science (including engineering and computer science) at the secondary level or be prepared to teach
Educational stipend payments are generally considered non-taxable to the extent they are used for qualified educational expenses (books, tuition, supplies, etc.) under IRC section 117. Use of stipend payments for living expenses are generally considered taxable events.
The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarships and Stipends Track of the Noyce Program supports institutions to recruit and prepare STEM teachers for high-need LEAs. These projects provide scholarships to undergraduate Noyce-eligible STEM majors and stipends to Noyce-eligible STEM professionals who become STEM teachers.
