A 2.5 is considered more competitive. A 2.75 may qualify you for assured admission.
Also acceptable: have earned at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4 point scale) from an accredited institution for a Masters, graduate doctoral degree, or professional doctoral degree. Graduate programs may consider an applicant with a GPA below a 3.0.
The most selective grad schools, with the lowest acceptance rates, include Harvard Graduate School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Columbia Business School. Harvard University has one of the lowest acceptance rates in the United States of America, at 4.6%.
The UW remains a highly selective institution . Masters acceptance rates run at 49 percent, and doctoral acceptance rates at 22 percent . Yield, measured by the percentage of applicants admitted who actually enroll, is 63 percent for masters degree programs and 48 percent for doctoral degree programs .
A 2.5 is a terrible GPA everywhere, even from a top school. Acceptance into any reasonably selective graduate school would be unlikely. A 3.5 is okay to excellent for a masters program, possibly a little low for a PhD program at a selective school, but should merit consideration no matter where you got it.
