The NYU Staff Pension Plan is what is known as a defined benefit plan. You can generally begin participating in the NYU Staff Pension Plan on the September 1st, after you docHub age 21 and have completed one year of service with NYU.
Once you retire, you can receive income from the Supplemental Tax Deferred Annuity (STDA) Plan and Staff Pension Plan (SPP) at any time. For the STDA plan, you can elect immediate payment in a single sum, make partial withdrawals, or choose an annuity.
The Benefit If you retire with 20 or more years of service credit, your retirement benefit will be 2 percent of your Final Average Salary (FAS) for each year of service credit. With less than 20 years of service credit, your benefit will be 1.66 percent of your FAS for each year of service credit.
You do not have to make an employee contribution to the Plan to receive the NYU non-elective contributions. After you become a match-eligible participant, NYU will make a matching contribution for each pay period in the amount of your employee contributions up to 5% of your base salary.
