Take a sponge bath so you dont get your cut wet, unless told otherwise. Ask the healthcare provider when you can take a shower or bath. Ask the best way to keep your cut dry when bathing or showering. You may have a small rim of redness and swelling around the cut.
Wet tissue: Double bag the specimen container with the requisition on the outside of the plastic bag. Placed the double-bagged specimen into a Styrofoam box (primary container) with adequate wet ice to keep specimen cool during transport. Securely seal the primary container.
What happens after a muscle biopsy? Once you are home, its important to keep the biopsy area clean and dry. Your healthcare provider will give you specific bathing instructions. If you have stitches, your healthcare provider will remove them during a follow-up office visit.
You may resume your usual diet and activities, unless your healthcare provider advises you otherwise. Your healthcare provider may restrict your activity for 24 hours following the procedure and ask that you avoid excessive use of the biopsied muscle.
An open biopsy wound may be closed with stitches. The surgeon will advise when these can be removed and who will do this. On the day of the biopsy, walking is possible but should be minimised. Activity should gradually be resumed following the procedure.
