We have 17 UW Libraries locations! Most libraries are located on the Seattle campus, but we also have locations at UW Tacoma, UW Bothell, and even in Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands!
Once inside, take the Grand Staircase (yes, its really called the Grand Staircase) or the elevator up to the third floor. At the top of the stairs is the Suzzallo Reading Room, aka the Harry Potter Room. Shhh this is one of the few places where you have to be absolutely quiet in the libraries.
Everyone is welcome to visit the UW Libraries (Seattle, Bothell Tacoma) and use our books, journals and most other materials while in the library. Join the Friends of the Libraries to support the Libraries, fund student scholarships and get a borrowers card.
Visitors from campuses and institutions participating in the Eduroam network can use it to access the UWs Wireless network. Otherwise, visitors need a temporary UW NetID to access sites outside of the washington.edu domain.
In order to purchase a UW Libraries Borrowers Card (privileges), you must supply a physical address and provide official government issued photo ID. Verification of your ID will be required when you renew. Cards can also be purchased from and renewed by the Library Account Services office in person or over the phone.
