What is included in an oasis assessment?

The OASIS assessment collects information in a standardized format about patients comorbidities, physical, psychological and psychosocial functioning in addition to the living arrangement. Patients in the SEER-Medicare data diagnosed in 1999 and later have been linked with OASIS data from 1999 and later.

Who completes Oasis assessment?

OASIS guidance states that the Resumption of Care comprehensive assessment must be completed within 2 calendar days after the patients return from the inpatient facility. The clinician that completes the ROC comprehensive assessment must be an RN, PT, OT or SLP.

What is the oasis form?

The Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) is a group of standard data elements home health agencies (HHAs) integrate into their comprehensive assessment, to collect and report quality data to the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS).

Is Oasis still used in home health?

In the 2023 Home Health Proposed Rule, it was finalized that starting in 2025, home health agencies must complete and transmit OASIS for 100% of their patients, regardless of payer. That time has now come. However, in this proposed rule, it will be voluntary starting January 1, 2025 and mandatory starting July 1, 2025.
