6mo ago. A non trad (graduate schools) is just someone who doesnt apply during their last year of university. Also in university, a non traditional student is a student who didnt go straight to a 4 year undergraduate school.
Without a doubt, the two most important factors are GPA (science and overall) and MCAT score. Many medical schools do not even consider applicants whose GPA and MCAT scores fall well below their averages.
Founded in 1905, UNDs School of Medicine Health Sciences is the only medical school in North Dakota. Today, two out of every three family physicians in the state received their medical degree from UND. Together, we are shaping the future of healthcare.
Enrollment patterns: When and how you enroll at a college can determine whether youre a traditional or nontraditional student. Those who enroll one or more years after graduating high school or those who attend college on a part-time basis are considered nontraditional by NCES.
Anyone can apply to UND SMHS, but as a state-supported school, we grant admissions preference to North Dakota residents or those who have strong ties to the state. We also admit a small number of applicants from Minnesota and Montana.

We consider a range of variables in applicants, not just metrics, but a minimum cumulative and BCPM (biology, chemistry, physics, math) GPA of 3.0 or higher is expected. The average GPA for applicants accepted into the 2020 entering class was 3.8 and the average MCAT was 507.
Traditional applicants take undergraduate science coursework, participate in the right extracurricular activities, and prepare for the MCAT. In short, traditional applicants take the most direct path to medical school, without deviation, except those who take a gap year between university and med school.
