Miami-Dade Countys Sales and Use Tax rate is 7%. This includes the state sales tax rate of 6% plus a 1% discretionary county surtax.
The surtax rate shall be one (1) percent on the amount of taxable sales and taxable purchases representing such transactions. The limitations, conditions and provisions contained in Section 212.054, Florida Statutes (1999) as the same may be amended and supplemented from time to time are hereby incorporated herein.
The total sales tax charged is 7% this includes the 6% Florida state tax rate plus the 1% Miami-Dade discretionary surtax. The tax calculation would be: $100 (item price) x 0.07 (tax rate) = $7 (sales tax total). Add this to the item price, and the final amount the customer pays is $107.

Miami- Dade County currently has a discretionary sales surtax of 1%. Therefore, sales of tangible property in our county are subject to a total sales tax rate of 7%. However, not all counties have surtaxes, and in some instances the rate is greater than 1%.
Beginning January 1, 2025, the total state and local sales and use tax rate for Marion County will increase from 7% to 7.5%. The total rate for Marion County is composed of the 6% state sales and use tax rate, a 1% local government infrastructure surtax rate, and the 0.5% school capital outlay surtax.
