A voluntary national and international certification intended for professionals working within addiction-related disciplines wishing to demonstrate their specialized addiction treatment skills gained through supervised work experience and specific undergraduate course work.
A score of 75% (112/150) is passing. If you have previously taken a certification exam at the state level, you may be able to use these scores towards national level certification. See States Using NCC AP Exams for more information.
An IADC will need 270 hours of training pertinent to the role of a substance abuse counselor. At least 90 must be in theories and techniques of counseling; at least 90 must be substance abuse related. At least 30 hours must have been earned in the prior two years. No college degree is required.
The ADC examination has 150 questions. Candidates have 3 hours to complete the exam. Registration for the exam will occur inside of your Certemy account. MHACBO submits candidates for testing approximately every 1-2 weeks.
