If you have reached your Maximum Time Frame for your program of study you are not meeting the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and will not be eligible for financial aid which consists of grants, federal work-study, all student loans including PLUS and private loans, and certain scholarships.
A student enrolled in a Certificate program may be eligible for financial aid for a maximum of 150% of the published length of that program. Once this limit has been reached, a student is ineligible for further financial aid.
The maximum time frame is up to 150% of the credits needed for degree completion. For example, an undergraduate pursuing a bachelors degree that requires 120 credits has a maximum time frame of 180 credits.
What is the maximum timeframe? The federal government defines the maximum timeframe as 150% of your programs published length, as measured in credit hours. For example, a typical degree requires 63 credits which would result in a maximum timeframe of 94.5 credit hours (63 x 150%).
Students who have attempted more than 150% of the credits required for their current program of study are not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards. Students who have exceeded the maximum time frame allowed for their program can submit a financial aid appeal.
