The OSHPTG is available to Ontario senior homeowners who pay property taxes and who have low or moderate incomes. It is an annual payment that seniors must apply for each year when they file their income tax and benefit return.

How Much is the Age Amount Tax Credit. The age amount tax credit is a non-refundable tax credit, claimed on line 30100 of the personal income tax return. This tax credit is available to individuals who are, at the end of the taxation year, aged 65 or older. The federal age amount for 2023 is $8,396 ($7,898 for 2022).
If, on December 31, 2022, you were 64 years of age or older and you owned and occupied a principal residence in Ontario, for which you or someone on your behalf paid property tax for 2022, you may also be eligible for the 2023 Ontario senior homeowners property tax grant.
