The Connecticut minimum tax base (or apportioned Connecticut minimum tax base for multistate corporations) is taxed at a rate of 3.1 mils ($0.0031) per dollar. The minimum tax cannot be more than $1,000,000 or less than $250. 30% of prior years tax or 27% of current years tax.
The capital base is the total of business capital and investment capital, or the portions of each allocated within New York State. The rate of tax is 1.78 mills (or 0.4 of a mill in the case of a cooperative housing corporation) for each dollar of the capital base.
S Corporations doing business in New York must file their franchise taxes using a form CT-3-S. This can be used to submit an initial, amended or final return. The document is found on the website of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
If you are filing an amended return for any purpose, mark an X in the Amended return box on page 1 of the return. If you file an amended federal return, you must file an amended New York State return within 90 days thereafter. You must file using the correct years return for the tax year being amended.
For S-corporations, the FDM tax is based on the corporations New York State receipts and is as follows: $25 Receipts not exceeding $100,000. $50 Receipts exceeding $100,000 but not more than $250,000. $175 Receipts exceeding $250,000 but not more than $500,000.
