The Combat Zone Tax Exclusion (CZTE) was originally established to alleviate the burden of war finance from those who fought in the nations conflicts. During World War (WW)II, combat tax benefits were separated from war finance policy and became a permanent component of combat compensation.
There are many assumptions out there about military life so I thought Id take a few minutes to bust a few myths. Myth: Canadian Armed Forces members dont pay income tax. Fact: All members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) pay taxes. We pay income taxes based on the same rates as any other Canadian citizen.
