The Annual Conference provides an opportunity for new award recipients and returning LITCs to meet, network, share best practices, and obtain substantive training on tax law topics relevant to low-income and ESL taxpayers.
Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) assist low-income individuals who have a tax dispute with the IRS, and provide education and outdocHub to individuals who speak English as a second language (ESL).
In 1992 the first freestanding LITC was founded. LITCs expanded docHubly in the late 1990s with the enactment of the IRS Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998, which created a federally funded matching grant program.
The LITC provides representation throughout the lifecycle of a tax case, from resolving issues of non-filing, through audits, through litigation, and ultimately through collection. The LITC provides taxpayer education throughout North Central Florida.
Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) assist low-income individuals who have a tax dispute with the IRS, and provide education and outdocHub to individuals who speak English as a second language (ESL). LITCs are independent from the IRS and the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS).

Welcome. The University of Maryland Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is an academic clinic operating since 2011 within the Clinical Law Offices of the University of Maryland Carey School of Law. We provide free, independent legal representation to low-income taxpayers in disputes with the IRS.
If your case is accepted, it will be assigned to a case advocate who will contact you. Find your local TAS office. Depending on the tax issue complexities, it could take a couple weeks to a couple months to resolve your tax issue.
