This is an adult novel but I think a young teen who is a member of todays society, watches TV etc, would find nothing shocking in it. Overall, the characters behave honorably, nobly even, and are caring toward one another. The protagonist is female, so your daughters will see a good role model in her.
The romance between Kira and Falconi definitely felt like an afterthought and didnt add anything to the story, but all of the other interactions between the characters were alright.
