Purpose of form. Use Form 4506-C to request tax return information through an authorized IVES participant. You will designate an IVES participant to receive the information on line 5a. Note: If you are unsure of which type of transcript you need, check with the party requesting your tax information.
That is usually done by employment verification. Sometimes that is not possible for any number of reasons self employment, retired, disabled, etc. The gold standard backup verification method is what you report to IRS. Thats why you have been asked to provide the signed 4506-C.
Customers must complete three major steps before their company can take advantage of this service: step 1, complete and submit the IVES application, step 2, respond with the correct Certification Documents, and step 3, complete the e-Services registration process.
Use Form 4506 to request a copy of your tax return. You can also designate (on line 5) a third party to receive the tax return. How long will it take? It may take up to 75 calendar days for us to process your request.
