District policy requires that all absences, tardies, and early leaves be cleared within 10 school days with a satisfactory explanation (in writing, or verbal justification). An excused absence note may be accepted for up to four consecutive days when the absence is attributed to illness.
Eligibility Requirements Employees are eligible if they have worked for LAUSD for at least one year, and worked the equivalent of 130 workdays or 1,250 hours over the previous 12 months.
Use the Certification and/or Request of Absence for Illness (Form No. 60. Ill) when you are absent and requesting to use your full and/or half pay illness, including Personal Necessity and Kin Care for: Your Own Personal Illness/Injury/Disability/Medical Appointment/Accident.
Typically full-time regular employees begin with two weeks of vacation and continue to accrue more time, up to 20 days, as they continue working with the District. LAUSD also provides 12 paid holidays (part time employees time off is prorated based on their scheduled working time.)
Effective July 1, 2015, eligible employees are entitled to up to three (3) protected paid sick days or 24 hours in a 12- month period, for the diagnosis, care or treatment of a health condition, or for preventative care for an employee or an employees family member.
