Youll usually only need to use dexamethasone eye drops for a few days. If youre using them after having eye surgery (to remove cataracts, for example), you may need to use them for a few weeks or more. Once your symptoms are better, your doctor may tell you to reduce your dose slowly before stopping completely.
Once your eye begins to feel better, reduce the frequency of using the drops to four times a day for a further few days, then stop. Prednisolone eye drops are only meant to be used for a short period of time. Do not use them for longer than one week unless your doctor advises you otherwise.
