In December 2005, meeting in a special session to address recovery issues confronting the state following Katrina and Rita, the Louisiana Legislature restructured the States Wetland Conservation and Restoration Authority to form the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA).
The Louisiana Coastal Resources Program (LCRP) was approved in 1980, and is a cooperative program with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Louisiana Coastal Resources Program is administered by the Department of Energy and Natural Resources through the Office of Coastal Management (OCM).
The Louisiana Coastal Preservation Foundation is a registered 501( c )(3) private foundation that was established in August of 2022. Our goal is to preserve and restore coastal regions, primarily in St. Bernard Parish.
The Louisiana Coastal Area (LCA) Program - as authorized in the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 - is a systematic approach to coastal restoration using critical near-term ecosystem restoration projects and large-scale, long-term studies and programs to restore natural features and ecosystem processes.
