Schedule NR allows a trust or estate that is a nonresident of Illinois to determine the income that is taxed by Illinois during the tax year. Resident trusts and estates are not permitted to allocate their fiduciary base income. Attach Illinois Schedule NR to your Form IL-1041.
Form 1040 is for US residents (or resident aliens) and citizens to report worldwide income. Form 1040NR is for non resident aliens to report income made in the US only. For reporting purposes, you will only include income made in 2024, do not include income made in 2025.
You must file Form 1040-NR, U.S. Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return only if you have income that is subject to tax, such as wages, tips, scholarship and fellowship grants, dividends, etc. Refer to Foreign students, scholars, teachers, researchers and exchange visitors for more information.
