To get an IP PIN that is lost, forgotten, or never arrived in a CP01A Notice, use the IP PIN request portal at IRS.gov. If you cant access your IP PIN online, call (800) 908-4490 for help getting your IP PIN reissued.
If youve forgotten your debit card PIN, some banks may offer a way to retrieve it through their website or app. You can also call a customer care representative, or find a local branch for help. Youll probably still need to verify your account ownership and may be directed to reset the PIN for security reasons.
This PIN is a 5-digit personal identification number (PIN) that you choose; you will need to remember this PIN if you ever have to discuss your tax return with the IRS in the future. The 5-digit PIN number serves as an electronic signature on your tax return.

If we issued you a PIN and you lost it or you didnt receive a new one in the mail, call customer services at 804.367. 8031. We will verify your identity and mail you a replacement PIN within 15 days. If we issue a new PIN, any previously issued PINs will be deactivated.
Once we verify your identity, you will receive your IP PIN via the U.S. Postal Service usually within four to six weeks. You will then receive your IP PIN annually through the mail.
