  5. Calculate the maximum allowable credit percentage in Section 3 by dividing line 1 by line 2.
  6. Proceed to Section 4 and enter your taxable income from line 39 of Form NJ-1040.
  7. In box 5a, input the amount from Worksheet H, line 1. If applicable, complete column B based on property tax eligibility.
  8. Complete lines for New Jersey Taxable Income and calculate tax using the Tax Table or Tax Rate Schedules in Section 7.
  9. Multiply the tax amount from line 7 by the credit percentage calculated earlier to find your allowable credit in Section 8.
  10. Finally, enter any taxes paid to other jurisdictions in box 9a and determine your credit allowed based on previous calculations.
