The admissions committee wants to hear from everyone and give all applicants an opportunity to submit as strong of an application as possible! Does Stanford send secondaries to everyone? Yes, Stanford University School of Medicine sends secondaries to everyone.
AMCAS immediately notifies the schools designated by an applicant about that individuals intention to apply there. Many medical schools send secondaries automatically to all applicants; some even send secondaries to applicants as soon as they receive this notification from AMCAS.
Typically, you will be notified about submitting a secondary application approximately 3-10 weeks after UCSF receives your verified AMCAS application.
Because the UCSF School of Medicine Admissions Committee does not send UCSF secondaries to everyone, we would recommend not pre-writing this secondary. Some students receive secondary application invites for UCSF as late as October or November each year.
August - January: Invitations to complete HUCM Secondary Application are sent by email to Verified Applicants. September through April: Interviews are scheduled. HUCM interviews about 300 students per year. Invitations to interview are sent via email.

A very rough breakdown of percentages you may anticipate up to this point are approximately 25-40% of our applicants will receive a secondary; of those secondaries, we will likely interview ~50%; of those interviews, we will likely accept under 50% including those taken off the waitlist.
The rule of thumb is to send back within two weeks of receipt of a secondary. Schools date stamp everything in your file, and if you take longer than that, we have heard that it can cause concern that youre either not that interested in the school, or that youre managing your time poorly in the application cycle.
