To participate in the Match, applicants must sign the Match Participation Agreement, which includes a Binding Match Commitmentensuring both applicants and programs honor their matches. However, waivers may be granted in cases of extreme hardship, specialty changes, or ineligibility.
A binding promise, agreement, or decision must be obeyed or carried out.
Legally-Binding Commitment means a fully-executed commitment letter or a fully-executed contract to provide Matching Funds, specifying the source(s) of the Matching Funds, the amount of Matching Funds from each source, the date upon which the funds will be deposited into the Local Housing Trust Fund or Regional Housing
If for any reason an applicant cannot or will not honor the binding commitment, the NRMP requires the applicant to initiate a waiver review. Waivers can be requested for unanticipated serious and extreme hardship, change of specialty, or ineligibility.
Who can withdraw from a Match? You must withdraw before the Rank Order List (ROL) Deadline. If you have submitted a certified ROL and do not withdraw by the ROL Deadline, you will be included in the Match and will be obligated to accept an appointment, if matched to a program.
