The structures of alternate assessments are designed around the students physical and cognitive disabilities in a way that allows them to answer test questions and participate in the test as independently as possible.
Description: The Virginia Substitute Evaluation Program (VSEP) is an alternative method of assessing students who by the nature of their disability are unable to participate in the Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments even with testing accommodations.
