Many pharmacies offer free blood pressure checks.
Measure your blood pressure (BP) for 7 days (minimum 5 days) at around the same time in the morning and in the evening. Each time you measure, take 2 readings, 1 minute apart, and record the numbers from each reading below.
Obtain estimated systolic pressure pulse can be felt (this is the estimated systolic bp). Rapidly deflate the cuff. adding 20-30 mmHg to the estimated systolic pressure (this is the level the cuff should be inflated to when taking the bp measurement). before re-inflating the cuff.
The numbers you write down should be the same as those that appear on the monitor screen- do not round the numbers up or down. In the comments section, you should also write down anything that could have affected your reading, such as feeling unwell or changes in your medication.
Take three readings in the morning, one to two minutes apart, and the same again in the evening, and record all the readings. Take an average of the readings, but discard the first one if its much higher than the others. To take an average simply add the two readings together and divide by two.

How to take blood pressure manually Pump air into the cuff around your arm to tighten it. Slowly release air from the cuff while using a stethoscope to hear the pulse in your arms brachial artery. Take a measurement when they hear your blood moving. Release more air from the cuff. Measure your pressure again.
We record this with the systolic pressure first (on the top) and the diastolic pressure second (below). For example, if the systolic pressure is 120 mmHg (millimetres of mercury) and the diastolic pressure is 80 mmHg, we would describe the blood pressure as 120 over 80, written 120/80.
Note the date and time of day you take them. Write the blood pressure with the systolic number on the left and diastolic number on the right: 120/80 for example.
