How long does it take for SAM registration to become active?

Registration Status Registration can take up to 10 business days to become active.

Is a SAM number the same as DUNS number?

The DUNS number was removed from SAM entirely! Unique Entity ID numbers are a 12-digit alphanumeric number issued to every business being registered in the SAM database. SAM.gov removed the option to enter your DUNS number from their application.

Why do I need a SAM number?

A SAM registration is required for any entity to bid on and get paid for federal contracts or to receive federal funds.

How long does it take to get a entity ID SAM?

Note that new registrations can take an average of 7-10 business days to process in SAM. SAM must send out some information for validation with outside parties before your registration can be activated; this includes TIN validation with the IRS and CAGE validation/ assignment with DoD.

What to do after SAM registration?

Once the SAM Registration is complete, you must return to Grants.gov to continue registration. Visit the System for Award Management website at . Follow SAMs online instructions in their Help tab to create a user account and register or update your entitys SAM account.
