*Sevens are melded only without wild cards. There is a penalty if a 7s canasta is not completed and if 3 or more are in a hand at end of game. Try to keep two in hand at all times, but not 3 (strategy*). Dont use three sevens as your pure meld!
Each red three has a bonus value of 100 points, but if one side has all four red threes, they count 200 each, or 800 in all. The value of the red threes is credited to a side that has made a meld, or debited against a side that has made no meld, when the hand ends.
Red 3s count as 100 points and can be put down on a teams point board during a players turn and can be replaced with another card. One member of the team has the board in front of them and the other member of the team keeps the points - the completed red, black and wild card canastas, the red 3s and the sambas.
In the classic version of Canasta, players need to achieve initial melds worth 15, 50, 90, or 120 points. In contrast, the Modern version requires higher point values for initial melds, specifically 125, 155, and 180 points.
Like wild cards, the black 3s block the discard pile, but only for one turn. Do not put them down sideways onto the discard pile as soon as they are covered the pile is no longer frozen. You can only make black 3s into melds on the turn when you go out. You cant meld black 3s with wild cards.

Wild cards cannot be added to a canasta. After the first meld, at least five natural cards need to be used before adding wild cards.
