Tips For Buying A Used Excavator Check for play/movement in the swing radius. Reviewing exterior excavator condition. Inspect excavator hydraulics for leaks. Inaccurate/inoperational hour meter. Review bucket and attachments for wear and tear. Parts/maintenance. Tires. Price comparison.
An equipment checklist is a tool that verifies whether the equipment in a workplace is complete, in good working order, and accounted for. The checklist should be used every time the equipment is used, transported, or stored.
Monthly: Change the engine oil and filter as well as the final drive and swing drive oil levels. Every three months: Prime the fuel system and clean the fuel tank cap and strainer. Every six months: Tighten the battery hold-down, and replace the case drain, pilot and return in the hydraulic system oil filter.
Lubrication: Excavators have multiple joints, bearings, and pivot points that require lubrication to reduce friction and wear. Greasing these points should be done periodically, typically every 50 to 100 operating hours, or as recommended by the manufacturer.
In-Cab Checks Check for debris. Look around the cab and remove any debris that could hinder your working of the machinery. Check safety belt. Adjust seat position. Check all controls. Adjust all mirrors. Turn on lights. Check windows. Sound horn.

Grease. The lifeblood of all pins and bushings, grease is another service point operators often forget about. As a general rule, operators should grease all pins and bushings daily. The operators manual will identify each grease point and provide recommendations for quantity and grade of grease.
Weekly: The operator should grease the mini excavators slew-ring bearing and check the track tension and drive belt every week. Every six months: At the six-month mark, its best to have a professional take a look at your mini excavators.
Service intervals. So its 500 hours for your engine oil and filter, 400 hours for your fuel filter, and 500 hours for your hydraulic filter. Then we have up to 3,000 hours before the hydraulic fluid needs changing, and 6000 hours before the coolant will need changing.
