Your answers to the interrogatories should usually be short, clear, and direct and should answer only the question that is being asked. This is not the time to set out your entire case or defense to the other side. Take the time to make sure your answers are correct and truthful.
Ask for a court order If the other person does not respond, or their response is still incomplete, you can ask the court to order them to respond. You have 45 days from the service of the most recent responses to ask the court to make an order requiring an answer.
Request for Interrogatories. The plaintiff must give you responses to the request for interrogatories within 45 days of when you mailed the request. If they do not give you a response you can send a final request to the plaintiff.
If you are unable to answer a specific question because you dont know or dont have access to the appropriate information, you must indicate the reasons. You may refer to a previous response when responding to an interrogatory providing the previous response sufficiently answers the later interrogatory.
If you have received discovery requests (which would probably come in the mail), you have thirty days to mail your written responses back to the other side. Missing that thirty-day deadline can be serious. It could even result in you losing the case.
