Code, Section 371(c). Beginning at age 65, a judge may retire at his or her current salary or take senior status after performing 15 years of active service as an Article III judge (65+15 = 80).
The Supreme Court of India sits at the top, followed by the High Courts of their respective states, where district judges sit in District Courts, Magistrates of Second Class, and Civil Judge (Junior Division) sit at the bottom of the importance hierarchy.
Senior Judges Article III judges who have met age and service requirements set by federal statute are eligible to take senior status if they are at least 65 years old and have served at least 15 years on the bench, or any combination of age and years of service thereafter that equals 80.
