Form 140X is a Form used for the Tax Return and Tax Amendment. You can prepare an Arizona Tax Amendment on eFile.com, however you can not submit it electronically.
Use Form 140X to correct an individual income tax return (Form 140, 140A, 140EZ, 140PY, or 140NR) filed within the past four years. The department will compute the interest and either include it in your refund or bill you for the amount due. NOTE: Do not use Form 140X to change an earlier filed Form 140PTC.
If you are filing Form 140X for a refund, you must generally file within four years from the date you filed the original return. If you amend your federal return for any year, you must also file an Arizona Form 140X for that year. You must file the Form 140X within 90 days of amending your federal return.
Attach a complete copy of the federal notice to your Form 140X. You may file a copy of the final federal notice with the department within 90 days of the final determination of the IRS.
Personal income tax return filed by resident taxpayers. You may file Form 140 only if you (and your spouse, if married filing a joint return) are full year residents of Arizona. You must use Form 140 if any of the following apply: Your Arizona taxable income is $50,000 or more, regardless of filing status.
