The author of a work is the person who has been involved in all aspects of the creation of the work including research, design, analysis, and final presentation of the work. A contributor: is a person who may have provided purely technical help or writing assistance.

By confirming their authorship, all co- authors confirm their agreement with their contributions and that of all other authors. A possible starting point is to divide 100% by the number of authors and then estimate whether and to what extent each author provided more or less work than the others.
Examples include a person who provided purely technical help, writing assistance, a department chair who provided only general support, or those who contributed as part of a large collaboration group.
Contributors who have contributed materially to the paper but whose contributions do not justify authorship should be described clearly in the contributorship statement; for example, served as scientific advisors, critically reviewed the study proposal, collected data or provided and cared for study patients.
