Case Cancel/Reinstate Processing On the Case Cancel/Reinstate page, enter the case number assigned to the mortgage loan in the FHA Case Number field. Enter the first three characters of the case number in the first box. Click Send. If there is no error, the Case Cancel/Reinstate Update page appears.
The Case Number Assignment Update page may appear with a warning message. A warning message is displayed indicating the status of the validation of the name, Social Security Number, and birth date combination of the borrower(s) against government records.
Important: FHA requires the current lender to assign the case number to the new lender in FHA Connection immediately upon the Borrowers request but no later than within 5 business days of the request for transfer.
Cancellation of an FHA Case Number The lender may submit/request the cancellation of an FHA Case Number only if: a) An appraisal has not been completed and the Borrower will not close the Mortgage as an FHA-insured Mortgage, b) The FHA mortgage insurance will not be sought; or c) The appraisal has already expired.
A Voluntary Termination of Mortgage Insurance is a mutual agreement between the Borrower and the Mortgagee [lender] to terminate FHA mortgage insurance. The Borrower and the Mortgagee may agree to voluntarily terminate FHA mortgage insurance at any time.
