The GSCCCA is the only agency that can issue apostilles and Atlanta is the only location. For mailing instructions, see Submitting Documents to the GSCCCA Fees, Office Hours and Mailing Instructions.
Georgia joined the Hague Apostille Convention on May 14, 2007. (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents).
An apostille is for documents to be used in countries that participate in the 1961 Hague Convention Treaty. Authentication certificates are for documents to be used in countries that do not participate in the 1961 Hague Convention Treaty.
The document must be docHubd by a Georgia notary. The notary must date, sign and seal the document; all signatures and seals must be original. You must then obtain a notary certification from the clerk of superior court in the county in which the notary is commissioned.
NOTE: If you need a Georgia apostille, you must contact the Georgia Superior Courts Clerks Cooperative Authority (GSCCCA). The statutory fee is $3 per document certification. Georgia has the authority to authenticate a document only if it was issued in Georgia.
