Students must complete all requirements for all graduate degree programs in no more than 25 terms of active enrollment including any periods of separation from the University when a student is out of residence.
Full-time undergraduates may complete up to three six-month co-ops during their five years at Northeastern for a total of up to eighteen months of work experience. Most programs do not allow back-to-back co-ops.
Through co-op, students alternate periods of academic courses with periods of employment in positions related to their academic or career interests. This combination provides an integrated learning experience that enhances both in-class studies and career development.
Students are permitted to participate in up to two co-op experiences as a 4-year undergraduate student. Students may also participate in up to three co-op experiences as a 5-year undergraduate student. A co-op experience may be full-time or half-time.
At Northeastern, co-op is our signature experiential learning program. Its what were known for and weve been doing it for more than a century. Full-time undergrads can complete up to two co-ops in four years.

To participate in the Co-Op Education Program, you must meet the student eligibility requirements below: Student Eligibility: Current sophomore, junior, or entering first quarter/semester senior level from accredited universities. GPA 2.5 or greater for undergraduate students.
Most Co-op courses are designed to provide 3 academic credits. Much of the work is done at the Co-op site but you will work with a faculty member who will require assignments as well. For every 3-credit Co-op course you select, you will be required to accrue 225 hours at your Co-op site.
